1 st Reading: Isaiah 7:10-14
10  Again the LORD spoke to Ahaz, saying,  11  Ask a sign of the LORD your God; let it
be deep as Sheol or high as heaven.  12  But Ahaz said, I will not ask, and I will not
put the LORD to the test.  13  Then Isaiah said: “Hear then, O house of David! Is it too
little for you to weary mortals, that you weary my God also?  14  Therefore the Lord
himself will give you a sign. Look, the young woman is with child and shall bear a
son, and shall name him Immanuel.

Gospel: Lk. 1: 26-38
26  In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called
Nazareth,  27  to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of
David. The virgin’s name was Mary.  28  And he came to her and said, “Greetings,
favored one! The Lord is with you.”   29  But she was much perplexed by his words
and pondered what sort of greeting this might be.  30  The angel said to her, “Do not
be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.  31  And now, you will conceive
in your womb and bear a son, and you will name him Jesus.  32  He will be great, and
will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give to him the
throne of his ancestor David.  33  He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and
of his kingdom there will be no end.”  34  Mary said to the angel, “How can this be,
since I am a virgin?”   35  The angel said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon
you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to
be born will be holy; he will be called Son of God.  36  And now, your relative
Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son; and this is the sixth month for
her who was said to be barren.  37  For nothing will be impossible with God.”  38  Then
Mary said, “Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to your
word.” Then the angel departed from her.

Day 2: Wednesday: 6-8- 2017

Main Celebrant: Fr Anthony Lawrence SJ
Introduction:
1 st Reading: Ruth 1:16-18
Gospel: Lk. 1:39-45
Novena Prayers:

1 st Reading: Ruth 1:16-18
16  But Ruth said, “Do not press me to leave you or to turn back from following you!
Where you go, I will go; where you lodge, I will lodge; your people shall be my
people and your God my God. 17  Where you die, I will die there will I be buried?
May the LORD do thus and so to me, and more as well, if even death parts me from
you!” 18  When Naomi saw that she was determined to go with her, she said no more
to her.

Gospel: Lk. 1:39-45
39  In those days Mary set out and went with haste to a Judean town in the hill
country,  40  where she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth.  41  When
Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the child leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was
filled with the Holy Spirit  42  and exclaimed with a loud cry, “Blessed are you
among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.  43  And why has this
happened to me, that the mother of my Lord comes to me?  44  For as soon as I heard
the sound of your greeting, the child in my womb leaped for joy.  45  And blessed is
she who believed that there would be  a fulfillment of what was spoken to her by
the Lord.”

Day 3: Thursday: 7-8- 2017
Theme: THE PRESENTATION - Mary offers Jesus
Main Celebrant: Fr Juno Sebastian SJ
Introduction:
1 st Reading: 1 Sam. 1:21-28:
Gospel: Lk. 2:22-40
Novena Prayers:

1 st Reading: 1 Sam. 1:21-28
21  The man Elkanah and all his household went up to offer to the LORD the yearly
sacrifice, and to pay his vow.  22  But Hannah did not go up, for she said to her
husband, “As soon as the child is weaned, I will bring him, that he may appear in
the presence of the LORD, and remain there forever; I will offer him as a nazirite
for all time.”   23  Her husband Elkanah said to her, “Do what seems best to you, wait
until you have weaned him; only—may the LORD establish his word.” So the
woman remained and nursed her son, until she weaned him.  24  When she had
weaned him, she took him up with her, along with a three-year- old bull an ephah of
flour, and a skin of wine. She brought him to the house of the LORD at Shiloh; and
the child was young.  25  Then they slaughtered the bull, and they brought the child to
Eli.  26  And she said, “Oh, my lord! As you live, my lord, I am the woman who was
standing here in your presence, praying to the LORD.  27  For this child I prayed; and
the LORD has granted me the petition that I made to him.  28  Therefore I have lent
him to the LORD; as long as he lives, he is given to the LORD.” She left him there
for the LORD.

Gospel: Luke 2:22-40
22  When the time came for their purification according to the law of Moses, they
brought him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord  23  (as it is written in the law
of the Lord, “Every firstborn male shall be designated as holy to the Lord”),  24  and
they offered a sacrifice according to what is stated in the law of the Lord, “a pair of
turtledoves or two young pigeons.” 25  Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose
name was Simeon; this man was righteous and devout, looking forward to the
consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit rested on him.  26  It had been revealed to
him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s
Messiah.  27  Guided by the Spirit, Simeon came into the temple; and when the
parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him what was customary under the
law,  28  Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying, 29  “Master, now you
are dismissing your servant  in peace, according to your word; 30  for my eyes have
seen your salvation, 31   which you have prepared in the presence of all peoples, 32  a
light for revelation to the Gentiles and for glory to your people Israel.” 33  And the

child’s father and mother were amazed at what was being said about him.  34  Then
Simeon blessed them and said to his mother Mary, “This child is destined for the
falling and the rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be opposed  35  so
that the inner thoughts of many will be revealed and a sword will pierce your own
soul too.” 36  There was also a prophet, Anna the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of
Asher. She was of a great age, having lived with her husband seven years after her
marriage,  37  then as a widow to the age of eighty-four. She never left the temple but
worshiped there with fasting and prayer night and day.  38  At that moment she came,
and began to praise God and to speak about the child to all who were looking for
the redemption of Jerusalem.
